Dream
catcher dedicated to Apacheboy
For
the greater individual is the
one who is the servant of all. And to
conquer self is greater than taking
cities.
Edgar Cayce Reading 3253-2
September
11 1973
Chile Stadium
Victor Jara
There are five thousand of us
here
in this little part of the city.
We are five thousand.
I wonder how many we are whole country?
Here alone
are ten thousand hands which plant seeds
and make the factories run.
How much humanity
exposed to hunger, cold, panic, pain
moral pressures, terror and insanity?
Six of us were lost
as if into starry space.
One dead, another beaten as I could never have believed
a human being could be beaten.
The other four wanted to end their terror-
one jumping into nothingness,
another beating his head against a wall,
but all with the fixed look of death.
What horror the face of fascism creates!
They carry out their plans with knife-like precision.
Nothing matters to them:
For them blood equals metals,
slaughter is an act of heroism.
Oh God, is this the world that you created?
For this, your seven days of wonder and work?
Within these four walls only a number exists
Which does not progress.
Which slowly will wish more and more for death.
But suddenly my conscience awakes
and I see this tide with no heartbeat.
only the pulse of machines
and the military showing their midwives' faces
full of sweetness.
Let Mexico, Cuba and the world
cry out against this atrocity!
We are ten thousand hands
which can produce nothing.
How many of us in the whole country?
The blood of our companero Presidente
Will strike with more strength than bombs and machine guns!
So will our fist strike again.
How hard it is to sing
When I must sing of horror,
Horror which I am living
Horror which I am dying.
To see myself among so much
and so many moments of infinity
in which silence and screams
are the end of my song.
What I see I have never seen
What I have felt and what I feel
will give birth to the moment.....
Victor Jara never finished
this poem
On September 11th in the stadium, Victor went down to the
arena and
came near one of the doors from which new prisoners entered. Up until
then the fascist had no idea that the beloved, Jara was among them.
Here he collided in a bottleneck with the commander of the prison camp.
The commander looked at him, made a tiny gesture of someone playing the
guitar. Victor has an affirmative sign with his head smiling sadly and
candidly. The military man smiled to himself, as if congratulating
himself for his discovery. He called four soldiers and ordered them to
hold Victor there. Then he ordered a table to be brought and to be put
in the middle of the arena so that everybody cold see what took place
immediately thereafter. They took Victor to the table and ordered him
to put his hands on it. In the hands of the officer, "( I have two
beautiful children and happy home" he declared days afterwards to the
foreign press) rose, swiftly an ax. With one single stroke he severed
the fingers of the left hand and with another stroke, the fingers of
Victor's right hand. The fingers fell to the wooden floor, trembling
and still moving, while Victor's body fell heavily down.
A collective out cry from 6 thousand prisoners was heard.
These 12
thousand eyes watched the same officer throw himself over the
fallen body of the singer and actor, Victor Jara and began to hit him
while he cried:
"Now sing, you motherfucker, now sing, " and kept on hitting
him.
Nobody who was near can ever forget the face of the officer,
ax in hand
and with disheveled hair over his forehead. It was the face of
bestiality and unbridled hatred.
Victor receiving the blows while his hands were dripping
blood and his
face was rapidly turning violet.
Unexpectedly, Victor laboriously raised himself to his feet
and
with unseeing eyes, turned towards the bleachers of the
stadium.
His steps were faltering, knees trembling, his mutilated
hands stretched
forward like those of a sleepwalker.
When he came to where arena and bleachers meet, a deep
silence ensured.
And then his voice was heard crying;
"All right, comrades, let's do the senor commandante the favor"
He steadied himself for a moment and then,
Lifting his bleeding hands,
began to sing, with an eager voice,
the anthem of the Unidad Popular,
and everybody sang with him.
When those six thousand voices were singing.
Victor marked the time with his mutilated hands.
On his face was a smile- Open and released-
and his eyes shone as if he were possessed.
This sight was too much for the military. A volley and Victor's body
began to fall forward
as if he were bowing long and slowly
in reverence to his comrades.
Then he fell down on his side and remained lying there.
More volleys followed from the mouths of the machine guns
but those were directed against the bleachers full of the people who
had accompanied
Victors song.
A veritable avalanche of bodies came down, riddled with bullets,
rolling to the arena.
The cries of the wounded here horrible.
But Victor Jara did not hear them anymore. He was dead.
Victor Jara died singing, An eyewitness account. Translated from
Spanish by Lenore Velfort. Beacon Press
Allende.
Hands will not be cleansed
Allende, memory of a dignified, loyal man
Long live Chile.
Long live the people,
Long live the workers
These were his last words.
A leader may fall
but there is still a cause.
America will be free.
By Miguel Cabezas
Now Sing
Now sing; the guards howling
beat him with obscenities.
but he did...
His legend is
He was singing
Venceremos
when they shot him.
Even for them, it was too much
they killed him,
they wouldn't kill him enough
Victor Jara
sin guitarra,
Who'd held out with bloody stumps?
And Sung.

The U.S. Army School of the Americas was established in 1946
in Panama.
In 1984 they reestablished at Fort Benning, Georgia. It trains 700-
2,000 soldiers yearly. It has trained over 57,000 troops.

This has all
been documented by John Stockwell, the highest case officer to leave
the CIA, and Phil Agee another CIA agent. So,
wonder no
more on why Amerikkka is despised, our hands are covered with the blood
of the world, as the apathetic stand by and watch our genocidal ways on
the
peoples of the world. Its just a grand miracle that we have not been
bombed before September 11. Now, I do not believe in the tactic of
including civilians in any military action or revolutionary
retaliation. I want the revolution to come peacefully through prayer
and spiritual means. I do not want to see any bloodshed. So Bush, FBI,
I am not a terrorist. I want a pacifist non-violent revolution. But I
will not judge or step in the way to prevent others from picking up a
gun to defend themselves or their country. We, the masses are not the
one's producing the violence. That resides in the perpetrators arena.
The USA keeps perpetrating like a child molester, a rapist or a serial
killer, it is in need of a 12 step program for recovering terrorists."
I am a recovering war monger. Stop me for I cannot stop myself. We
admitted we are powerless over our war mongering, and that our lives
had become unmanageable. I will kill again if I am not stopped." What
happened to those Christian words, Thou shall not kill. After all the
enemies of the people have all the weaponry, from the neutron bomb, to
every killing gadget invented by the masters of doom. At every turn in
the road they leave land mines, like crack, heroin, meth and guns that
they drop into the inner cities. What do we have? The left wing is not
even armed. And the fact that I'm a coward and I don't relish in blood
and dead bodies. Nevertheless a code of conduct for revolutionaries
might entail no civilian kills. As a pagan, and a Goddess follower, our
civilizations before the patriarchy came did not partake in violence.
So my heritage is not of fear. Throughout the years, working with gangs
and mostly convicts, I made years of efforts to move the mentality of
kill to something else. But in some cases I infuriated some convicts to
the point that they said they wanted to kill me, that my reasoning with
them about peace and putting down the weapons was responded with
violence and threats of death. So it is not like I didn't try
under the threat of death as I was trying to reason for peace. There
are radical movements like Animal Liberation Front, Earth Liberation
Front, Earth First! or Sea Shepherds who are now considered terrorist
more then ever. But they are upholding higher laws. They have never
killed a human. They never intend to. They have strict rules of
conduct. No weapons, explosives. But they will destroy the machines
that are killing off a whole species. Is that terrorism? Or will it be
seen when our species comes to their senses if we ever do, will they be
seen as heroes, who were ultimately attempting to save the web of life
and therefore our species? I did NOT
support the atrocity and murder of the innocents in the two
towers. These terrorists were far right-wing patriarchal religious
fanatics, about as far right as our Bush's patriarchal Christian
fanatics. Few Muslims are
like these fanatics, although by the minute, with supporting Israel,
the killing of the Palestinians, and
the occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq, torture of prisoners and
ignoring international
law, we are helping these folks with requirement with our actions.
Minute by minute we are giving cause for retaliation for our
atrocities. Anyone with balls or ovaries would seek justice, as we
sought justice against the British in our revolution. I was
devastated
over the 3,000 killed in the towers, but I will never forget the 30,000
Chileans we
murdered. And all the people we have killed, are killing and will kill.
My heart cries for them
too.
Military, CIA
are hard targets. Civilians are not, regardless of how submerged into
escape mode which allows the military complex to kill, kill and kill.
Che
Guevara was opposed to killing
civilians. It must be prevented at all cost. But under some situations
death comes to traitors. In El Salvador, the
Farabundo Marti National Liberation (FMNL) had three members of a
platoon desert and held up a bus. Two of them raped one of the
passengers, a young girl. When the FMNL Comrades caught them, they were
court martialled. Two of them were executed. There is no place for
rapists and child molesters in our movements. They should be swiftly
taken care of. Usually the left wing does not kill haphazardly. The
Right wing kill, uses explosives, and has historically killed popular
leaders like the Kennedy's, Fred Hampton, Malcolm X, Martin Luther
King, Medgar Evers and hundreds of other comrades. Many of our comrades
are surviving in prison on trumped up charges. The Black Panther Party
was exterminated by the FBI and so was The American Indian Movement. So
our battle is up hill against all odds. A mission impossible. But
nevertheless, back to 9/11, it is still a wonder
that we have not been punished for our warring and addiction to
slaughter. We are blessed that the peoples of the world have shown such
angelic compassion for our bullying imperialist global waves of
fascism. We vote the Bastards out, and if the corruption continues with
the spineless democrats, then we must gather and reason together on how
our government will proceed. The basic question is if it serves the
masses or the one percent of the rich and their corporations. Katrina
is a metaphor for all
of us. Hip Hop artist Kanye West was right "George Bush doesn't care
about Black people." The shameless and despicable manner in which our
peoples have been abandoned, is the pulse of the concern for us
generally, and specifically. Even the
middle class who are quickly sliding down into hell, with the majority
of the poor are getting the shaft. We take action until the job is
accomplished. Then we can
begin to make amends to those we have perpetrated upon. Only through
reparations and justice will peace finally be real and lasting.
Peace Out.
